I attended Oakland City University in Indiana where I majored in elementary education. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 1994 with a 3.97 GPA. I also hold a kindergarten endorsement and middle school endorsements in language arts, social studies, and physical education.  In 2010, I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

While still attending college, I began working as a substitute teacher in the East Gibson and Pike County School Corporations in Indiana. In the fall of 1994, I took the position of Title 1 program director/kindergarten teacher at Oakland City Elementary. While at OCE, I was also the high school Beta Club sponsor and  junior varsity volleyball coach. I held these positions for two years until I was hired in 1996 to teach fourth grade at Otwell Elementary School. This is the same school system in which I grew up in. While teaching in Pike County, I also coached middle school/high school swimming and diving at Pike Central High School.

In 2004, I moved to Georgia with my husband.  I taught fifth grade for two years at McDonough Elementary in Henry County. In 2006, I was hired by the Douglas County Board of Education to teach fifth grade at Sweetwater Elementary, and transferred to Lithia Springs in 2008. Since moving to LSES, I have taught fifth grade and currently hold the position of Instructional Lead Teacher.

Lithia Springs Elementary reminds me of the school that I grew up and taught in Indiana. We are family here, and I love teaching at LSES!  This is due to the amazing team of dedicated teachers, paraprofessionals, office staff, and administration that I have the honor to work alongside. I look forward to many years of teaching at Lithia Springs Elementary!

I was born on June 4, 1958 and for the first forty-four years of my life I lived in Petersburg, Indiana.  I attended elementary/middle school at Petersburg Elementary School and graduated in 1976 from Pike Central High School. I am married to a wonderful man, Joe, and we have two daughters, Lara and Jacy. Lara and her husband, Ansel, live in Louisville, KY with our granddaughters Mila and Halle. Lara is a NIC unit nurse, but is currently enjoying her time being a stay-at-home mom for her girls. Ansel recently accepted a position as a neonatologist for Kosair Children's Hospital. Jacy and our granddaughter Brileigh reside in Douglasville.  Jacy is a Patient Service Representative for Piedmont Urgicare in Austell. Brileigh will be in the fifth grade this year here at LSES.
